Please explain your career goals

I plan to get a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture at SDSU, then spend five years at a golf course design firm for mentoring. After I meet the qualifications, I plan to take the licensing exam to become certified. My ultimate goal is to design my own golf course.

What motivates you to excel at SDSU?

I am motivated to excel because I know that my education is key to achieving my career goals. By getting the most out of my college experience, I can be better prepared for my career. The teaching staff here has real experience, and I know it is important to try my best in order to make the most of the opportunities they provide. By doing so, I know I can get ahead in my field after I graduate. I know that effort leads to success, and this pushes me to do my best.

How does education help you reach your goals and aspirations?

A good education is important for not only learning what I need for my career, but it will help me get a head start right after school. I eventually want to own my own golf course design firm, but I will have to work my way up to that position. I know that learning what I can from experienced professors will help me greatly when it comes to making an impression on my starting employers and with my licensing exam. Education is the key to getting where I want to go in life, and I believe that SDSU will provide me with this knowledge.

How do scholarships impact your experience at SDSU and your future?

I believe that scholarships allow me to make the most of college. I know college is important, but the cost can hinder the value. Not only is financial burden stressful, but it can set students back even after college. It can also affect the family since most students cannot afford to pay for college themselves. Scholarships help alleviate this problem and thus make life easier for both the student and their families. Cost is one of the few barriers that make the college decision difficult. Scholarships remove this barrier and thus allow students to make the most out of their education and their lives.
