Rally at the Rails

The 2024 Hobo Day Committee is giving the classic pep rally a hobo reboot and taking it downtown! We've invited Jack, the SDSU Dance Team, the SDSU Cheerleading Team, and the Bum Band to bring some SDSU spirit and ignite some enthusiasm. We will also hear from distinguished speakers. All are welcome to come enjoy live music and hobo reverie and support the 2024 Hobo Day Committee!

Hobo Day Committee Alumni Chapter Annual Meeting

Join the Hobo Day Committee Alumni Chapter for our annual meeting. The annual meeting agenda will include a report of activities from the last year, voting on new board members and officers, and looking ahead to future activities of the chapter.

  • 1:00-2:30pm CT
  • SDSU Student Union - State Room (Upper Level) (1421 Student Union Lane)
  • Please park in the pay lot on the west side of the University Student Union. A parking code for free access to the parking lot will be shared via email days prior with those who have RSVP'd for the meeting.

Jim and Julie Higgins Hobo Day Plaza Dedication

Jim and Julie Higgins have made a lead gift of $500,000 to support the Hobo Day Legacy Endowment. Jim served four years on the Hobo Day Committee and was the 1972 Grand Pooba; he went on to a 50-year career as a cardiologist. To recognize their generosity, the area outside the Hobo Day Gallery where the Weary Wil and Dirty Lil statues stand is being expanded to create the Jim and Julie Higgins Hobo Day Plaza.

Bum Alum Social

Come one, come all to the annual Bum Alum Social! The social will start at 5:00pm CT with a program beginning around 5:30pm. The program will include remarks from the 2024 Grand Pooba and Hobo Day Committee, the presentation of the Hobo Spirit Award, and recognition of the 1954, 1964, 1974, 1984, 1994, 2004, and 2014 Hobo Day Committees! Refreshments and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

  • Parking is available on the east or west side of the University Student Union. There is no fee or ticketing for parking in any lot on campus after 4:00pm on Friday, October 11.

Hobo Day Parade Viewing

Take in the sights and sounds of the 2024 Hobo Day Parade with other bum alums! A section of bleachers will be available near the parade livestream announcing platform located near Pugsley Center (formerly Pugsley Union). All alumni are welcome to walk through the parade with the Hobo Day Committee Alumni Chapter entry in the parade. Feel free to hop into the parade from the section of Hobo Day Committee alumni bleachers!

  • 9:00am CT (Parade begins at 9:30am CT)
  • Medary Avenue near Pugsley Center across from the Lohr Building (SDSU Foundation & Alumni Association)
  • No RSVP needed.Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Hobo Day Football Game

Join fellow Hobo Day Committee alumni to cheer on the Jackrabbits as they take on the Youngstown State Penguins! There will be a block of tickets seated together for Hobo Day Committee alumni.


1973-1974 Hobo Day Committee Reunion

Alumni and friends of the 1973 and 197 4 Hobo Day Committees are invited to celebrate their 50-year anniversary with an informal get-together after the football game on Hobo Day sponsored by the 1973 and 197 4 Hobo Day Committees.
