Please explain your career goals
I want to change the world. I picture myself in a low-income school teaching students who may really need someone. I think that by getting into a classroom and being a positive influence for students who may not always have someone rooting for them, I can change their course for the better.
What motivates you to excel at SDSU?
The biggest thing that motivates me to excel at SDSU is the people who helped me to get here. I have two parents who met at SDSU and they were a big part of my decision to come here and my desire to stay on the Dean's List and learn as much as I can about anything possible while I am here. I have a younger brother who is a senior this year and will be going to college next year. I want him to always do his best and to let the things he is passionate about lead him and motivate him. As his older sister, I know I need to do these things for myself to set an example for him. He has always been a motivating factor, especially in my time here at SDSU.
How does education help you reach your goals and aspirations?
I read a quote one time that stated something like, "Your degree is the door. Your work ethic is the key. And it is by the grace and strength of God that you will walk through that door and help whoever may be on the other side." It stuck out to me because there is so much truth in it. Once I have an education, there will be so many possibilities. I will have the tools to go into a classroom and help as many students as possible. This thought fills me with joy and helps me to stay focused each semester.
How do scholarships impact your experience at SDSU and your future?
As I have grown older and learned about some people's lack of opportunity for education, I appreciate my opportunities more and more. I think sometimes we all let the stress of the expenses take away from the great opportunity we have to be at school and receiving scholarships from people who care enough to provide them for us is awesome. It helps me to stay focused on what is important and to enjoy learning and being in school.
